Hi, maybe somebody could give me a hint what to look at here to resolve the wobble?

Installed new wheels and new tires, transferred the previous disc and casette. While cycling I don't notice the wobble, but hear it somewhat when freewheeling as the sound is not quite consistently "round". When lifting the bike and spinning the wheel one quickly notices the energy from the wheel going through the whole bike introducing a wobble.

Taking out the wheel and spinning it I don't feel the wobble, but it might be too light to notice hand-held maybe.

Thanks!

If the tyre is seated correctly it probably just needs to be balanced. I used nipple washers under the rim tape to do mine.

  2. Balancing issue. Is this perhaps a tubeless setup and you have half a liter of dried sealant in one place?

If not, I would also see if it is the wheel or the tire by removing tire and seeing how much it wobbles without. Then trying to balance it, there are weight stickers, or weights you can attach to spokes, and videos in YouTube how to balance it.

But, even though it is bit dramatic on the stand, it may not be much out of balance, the wobble just gets very intensified when the bike not being mounted rigidly.

  3. That just looks like the rear wheel is unbalanced, the whole bike is wobbling. If you take the wheel out and just balance it on the axle does it always want to rotate so a particular spot is at the bottom?

  4. It’s just because you have the bike in the air. It’s not worth worrying about. If you really care they sell lead tape for balancing tennis racquets, buy some of that and put it opposite the valve

  5. Might be the valve which has no contra weight, my bikes wobble some too. Shouldnt be too big of an issue if your body is not filled with helium.

  6. From that short video it doesnt look to be out of true which would lead to the suspicion thats its out of balance. Is it a tubeless setup thats been sat unused at all? If so the sealant could have pooled in what was the bottom of the tyre and started to set in that one spot.

  7. It’d try asking for balancing at my LBS First. Is there any play of the wheel along the axle? Hub bearings could be another cause of such wobbling.
