German village dreams came true in Monschau!

It’s day 7/13 days of our European cycle tour and today we arrived to Monschau where we’re finally giving ourselves a full rest day!

Monschau, Germany is a German Village that is right in the middle of the VennBahnWeg.. and the perfect place to stay for a night or two!

This riverside village is anything and everything my German village dreams are made of, and no better place to spend my birthday than here!

Today, we wandered through the village, getting a sense of what’s around, and eating and drinking at anywhere and everywhere we fancied.

Meals for the day included…

Coffee with Baileys
Beer & Goulash
German cakes — a very traditional thing to have with coffee
Mustard Soup – a special dish from the town on Monschau
Jagerschnitzel – breaded deep fried pork with a mushroom cream sauce on top.
Kasespatzel — a traditional German egg noodle dish with cheese

The perfect first day in Monschau… but would you believe us if we told you tomorrow was even better?!?!
