Waiting on my v brakes to come in and I’m trying to decide on what color vans grips to order. I think I might go with the flanged purple or dark green. Would love to throw a brooks saddle on it but can’t find a cheap used one near me. Anyone recommend something similar?

I have 42×16 on my cross bike and it’s surprisingly pacey on the road

Is it fixed or single speed ?
Also if fixed, are QR safe to use on a fixed application ?
Im currently building a 40×16 after riding with that combination on my 21v for a while. Seems appropiate for commuting.
I have a similar Rockhopper. I cut and filed the dropout so both sides have a long, diagonal slot. That allowed for different combos and chain tension. I also replaced the axle with a long, solid one with axle nuts because i don’t trust QR skewers in this application. It’s probably fine, BUT, it’s a lot easier to “walk” the axle to center the tire in the frame with two nuts. Currently riding it at 42×18.
I ran 48-18 on my ss without a tensioner. Extremely flat roads here. Bike ripped.
