First new bike in a long while, Druid V2 29er. Thing absolutely rips, but I went to clean it after my first few rides and noticed some baddd scars from rock strikes. Most is just paint level but some go down to the metal. Had a lbs build the thing. Did I fuck up? Did they fuck up? Any recovering from this? Should mention it’s my first carbon bike too. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

I always put some protective tape in spots like that but that clearance looks awful tight. How big is that tire?
Edit: any chance that’s a 29er rear wheel with the 27.5 rear end? I think they’re different on the V2 Druid…
You are worrying too much. Tires will throw rocks at the bike. You can mount plastic fenders on seatstay to protect the seat tube. Carbon is stronger and more durable than you think. Go ride and have fun
That’s not right, that tire may be to big. 100% should not have that type of damage, let alone brand new.

Looks like just paint scrapes, but hard to tell, take the wheel off to take better photos. Also what frame and what size wheel, there doesnt seem to be enough clearance there.
Duh, you say Druid v2 in your post. Recommended tyre size is 2.4, max 2.5, are you sure you dont have a 2.6 in there?

I have this bike. I run 2.35 tires back there, 29 in. It looks well worse than this. Forbidden definitely fucked this up. But there isn’t anything you can do about it. All Druid V2s look like this.
Check the clearance between the tire and the frame that looks entirely too tight but maybe the photos are just taken at a weird angle. I don’t think I would typically go less than like a quarter of an inch for a mountain bike that I would be riding and anything that would have mud or decent size gravel so pretty much any mountain bike ever owned I would have a decent amount of space between the frame and the tire.
Definitely can go narrower on other non mtb setups but this looks tight. Maybe you got like a mislabeled tire that is wider than what it says on the casing? Not sure but either way I would go down a size.
Apply thick ppf, bathroom tape is also good.

This is just the nature of the druid v2’s lack of clearance. I run a 2.5 schwalbe albert (previously a 2.4 magic mary) and I make sure to clear the mud between every DH run. My local trails don’t have many rocks, but when I ride rock heavy trails I can hear them getting caught in the chainstay all the time. It blows, but it is what it is.

Get smaller tires, these look like 2.2-2.5 inches wide tires. Get 2.0 inch tires.
Get a roll of airplane tape and cover that area up.
Tape will help but it don’t matter. Just learn to love the nicks and battle scars. Bikes are tools so dont sweat it. Just ride them and in a few years you can appreciate all the love that you frame has absorbed 😁 personally I don’t love the look of wrapped bikes.
That bike is garbage, DM me and ill give you coordinates to the best dumpster to use to dispose of it
Just clean it off and helicopter tape it. It’s not going to look perfect as the surface isn’t smooth, but it will stay put for a long while and stop future rock strikes.
