Picked up this bike yesterday for $40 and love it. Guy I bought it from found it in a storage unit. Never seen or ridden a friction shift bike (I think that’s what this is) but it’s fun as hell.
Looking to see if anyone can tell me more about it like the age, value, good or bad anything! Thank you!

The only info I have on the bike is: it looks **beautiful**!
That classic frame and **friction shifters** give it some real vintage charm. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if its **value far exceeds** the $40 you paid, even with any minor tune-ups it might need (though it looks like it’s in great condition already).
Whether you’re restoring it or just cruising as-is, it’s a solid find. I wish you **many safe and scenic rides** ahead. You scored a gem—enjoy every mile!
Looks like a nice setup — the seatpost has a decent amount of setback (more is better for most people) and the smaller chainring looks decently small (a 36 maybe?) so it has a better chance of climbing a hill than a lot of 80s road bikes that were geared only for “fast” and “faster”.
If that saddle is at the right height for you, then this frame is about your size.
Looks to be a lugged steel frame. How much does it weigh? Below 25 lb. means it’s probably chromoly. Anything in the 27-28 lb. range is likely cheaper steel.
EDIT: it’s probably later ’80s or early ’90s judging by the 7 (or maybe 8?) speed rear cluster. Look sweet. Even lower end steel bikes were getting very good by then.
