Hi, bought this bike for my son, things start to get funny with the drive train, so I’m considering an upgrade the groupset to 11/12, now it’s 3×9 or 7 and im not sure the hub on those wheels can take 11-12 cassettes, so i might need to upgrade the Wheelset(somehow makes more sense to me than rebuild the wheel around new hub), now it’s 26in and I have a chance to buy a nice 27.5 Wheelset with dt240, do you think a 27.5 will fit? Is there a way I can check my self on the bike If don’t have the 27.5 yet?

I dont think so
It *might* be possible with the fork, but highly doubtful in the frame. 1×10 speed probably makes more sense than trying to go to 11 or 12 as well.
It probably will fit a much slimmer 27.5 tire, e.g. for road use. What is the current tire clearance?
You can calculate the new tire diameter based on the difference of 26“ vs 27.5“ rims, 584-559=25mm, so the tire clearance will be 12.5mm less with the same tire dimension on 27.5. If your current tire clearance is more than ~18mm, it should be fine. But this is for the tire radius, you have to consider that the widest part of the tire will move outward as well, so check that too.
For trail use, it would be better to get the widest tire possible on 26“ than riding a skinny 27.5“ tire.
As the fork probably has more tire clearance than the rear, you could opt for a mullet setup with a 27.5 front and a 26 rear, which will alter the geometry for a more downhill oriented one.
People are commenting about wheel diameter but the first question is how the 27.5 wheels attach. Your bike is quick release, are the wheels you are considering quick release?
Good 26″ tires aren’t extinct yet, if it were me I wouldn’t think about trying to change wheels which would raise the BB. Use it as it was designed.
There’s no reason to go with 11 or 12 speed when you can convert to 1x using a perfectly good 11-46 9s or 10s cassette and keep the existing wheels. My suggestion would be a generic 11-46 10 speed cassette with a Shimano m4100 shifter and M5120 Derailleur.
A 650b will fit, but much narrower. It really depends what type of riding your son does. Also, nothing really wrong with a good 26er. If you still want to take some time to upgrade stuff, if that is a 9 speed Shimano cassette. You could put a Shimano MTB 11 speed dynasys cassette (something like a cs-m5100) as those fit a 8-10 Shimano HG cassette body. I’ve done that to a few bikes from the 90s
