I bought this 2010-14 P2 for 300€ and have been using it as an indoor trainer for a few months, without issues. I am evaluating and asking for your help to determine if I can use this bike for my upcoming 70.3 race in September.
I am the third owner and the previous owner trained for and completed a full ironman with it. Nearly all of his training was indoor as well, so that would explain the salt corrosion on the bolts. He never fell but I don’t know the history of the bike beyond his use of it.
As you can see, it seems like the mechanical parts (the groupset) is in good condition. Should I still be concerned about the rust on the bolts? I opened up the stem and sweat clearly crept inside while the saddle also has salt residue around the edges. Is any of this a potential safety red flag?

If you feel confident, strip it and check all the bolts seat, post headset, bearings, bottom, bracket bearings, handlebars, strip everything down. It’s the only way to be sure. Clean everything soapy water fine bristle brush some microfibers. Show it some love. Then look for cracks. And ping it lightly with a metal tool a few times, does it sound crispy or does it sound dull and thudded. Crispy means a solid reverberating frame. Flooding means there’s a crack somewhere. Good luck it’s beautiful. I kind of doubt it’s in trouble. But you never know. If you’re not comfortable with any of the above. Take it to a bike shop mechanic and don’t forget to tip him/her
What corrosion? Lol
There is literally nothing to worry about anything here. Even corrosion is a big word to use here
