    It’s frame protection tape. The cables would run through the paint if it wasn’t there.

  2. It’s there to stop the cable housing from rubbing on the frame and removing paint / wearing things down.

    Previous owner put it on. No worries, it’s there to keep the cable housing from rubbing through the tape. You can remove it if you want.

    either your frame is cracked and they tried to hide it with tape or it’s there to protect the paint from the cable that clearly rubs on the frame.

  5. At that location it seems like a crack for the lower headset bearing they are covering with a transparent tape.

  6. Heli tape. I love the stuff.

    You can buy it on Amazon and put it wherever you might see rubbing or rock chips.
