I forget if I first saw this Decathlon 80L-120L bag ( https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/trekking-carry-bag-80-l-to-120-l-duffel-500-extend/_/R-p-156360 ) used here or FB but this will be my first trip trying it myself.

It fits a Brompton in there with plenty of space but I added some extra padding for an upcoming trip to Japan. I plan to cycle between cities so having a carrying solution that was packable was ideal. I also plan to do a lot of shopping so I needed the ability to carry a second checked bag.

My solution was essentially to triple bag it on the way there with the decathlon shell and two ikea dimpa bags inside. On the return trip I can just use the dimpa bags for the Brompton and the duffle bag for gifts and stuff.

I just use a bunch of cardboard and packing material to protect it. I’ll toss it when I get there and just find new cardboard for the way back.

Ideally I could just use the duffel bag for the rear rack setup but it’s a bit too big and floppy so I just brought a 40L carryon bag with me to keep all the stuff in there. I don’t plan to do much shopping until the end of the trip so it should be enough space!

I made a YouTube video here about my cycling plans and exactly how I packed it: https://youtu.be/CSG9jvgKGRg?si=EVDrYxaYC_1KRdqt
