  1. yesh you can re-use it. Just need to cut the damaged end off and press in a new barb, install a new olive and should be good to go.

  2. you need to press in a new barb and olive. you also need to cut the hose (utility knife works fine) and bleed the brakes. And also somehow get the existing barb and olive out.

  3. Pffft, coward levers!! SEND IT!!
Oh, and yes, what the other guys said, definitely reusable. 🔥👍🏼

  4. You can recut and reuse housing, but a snaggle toothed, poorly cut end will prove to be a point of failure. You can remove an inch or so, but check the loop length for optimum clearance.

Shimano or Park housing cutters are a worthy tool.
Grinding the end flush and deburring the end is a best practice

  5. Others have stated that you can reuse it.
however, I will potentially contradict them.

Yes, in some cases you can reuse it, provided that :
    1) it’s not too short if you cut of the end , and re-erminate it
    2) it’s not contaminated ( that sand has not entered into brake hose (yes , it’s brake hose not cable – it contains and transmits hydraulic fluid)
3)there are no kinks somewhere else – if it kinked , the wall is compromised and you are risking for the hose to blow under hard breaking. If it’s DOT5.1 – that’s some really nasty stuff to be sprayed with. Neither you want to inhale mineral oil mist (or get it into your eyes)

    4) If there are any signs of wear on that hose, you shouldn’t reuse it, instead just replace it.

another thing you have to consider – did that sand get into your brake handle ? How are you going to clean it?

and next – if you are having these questions – how are you going to bleed the brakes ?

Best take it to bike shop, get them take a look at it.
