Long story short, I haven't biked in a while and was thinking about getting into bikepacking, and I do have these two bikes sitting around, the bottom one has most of the parts but needs a wheelset, rear gears, fork, bars…etc etc
The top bike is built currently just like that, I can harvest parts from either bike but plan on doing different wheels, saddle, tires, drop bars and a rigid carbon fork…etc etc, so the question is, which bike would you base a packing build off of?
I would assume the bottom frame since it has more room for a frame bag?
appreciate the feedback, thanks!

The bottom frame looks like better geometry for bike packing in my opinion.
Either, the beauty of bikepacking is the wide-variety of rig options! I would personally go with the bottom one with a frame bag and a back rack with 2 panniers and some straps
Put a nice stout suspension corrected fork on the bottom one and fill that big triangle full of Oveja Negra frame bag.
I actually prefer the slacker head tube angle of the top frame for most of the riding I do. But when loaded nobody is sending big downhills. I’m sure not.
But for me the final decision would be whichever fits me best. I can adapt a bike. I’m not adapting.
