I am finally in a place in my life where I can buy a Brompton. I went to a dealer today, and did not recognize the beautiful bikes I have seen and dreamed of. No chrome and no visible steel. Just black. Why is this, and is it possible to get a new Brompton without all of this black?

It’s much more popular I’d imagine. When they were silver I always spent a load switching it to black components. They moved over about 4 or so years ago I think!
I have to say, I do prefer the black, but mines blue with silver. Regardless they’re wonderful bikes! Perhaps look for the best second hand bike you can?
messaged you
I prefer black on most of the bikes but agree silver is better with the green!
My 2 speed C line is with green stem, fork and rear triangle unlike bike on the 1st photo. Also silver spokes.
But yeah, handlebar, seatpost and cranks are also black.
And things like chairing, pedals and easy wheels are anyway popular things to replace so you can get any color you want.
My new c-line 12 speed electric is *mostly* black, silver rims & spokes … 1 spoke is black … a bent silver one replaced by 1 black, only color in stock day of repair!
Personally, I would prefer it silver. But as it is, when I decided to buy one couple of months ago, black was the only option.
I recently noticed the paint scratches *extremely easily*. I honestly have never seen a paint on a bike so fragile. On one side a bit of a letdown, on the other probably more motivation to get some interesting color scheme in couple of years.
Does the regular C line rust easily?
