First “real” bikepacking trip – Lima to Ushuaia. Approx 8000km
Starting from Lima, I picked up the Peru divide half-way, heading towards Cusco. The first couple of days were extreme. Starting at sea level, I found myself at 4900m within 5 days, often only managing to cycle 20 to 30km a days.
For sure I’ve burned my fingers by underestimating this trip (as well as by touching my disk brakes were after a heavy decline), but sure it’s rewarding with stunning views, flocks of flamingos 🦩 and herds of alpacas 🦙 along the way.
I got some vague plans for places I’d like to visit (La Paz, Uyuni, Sucre) but feel free to recommend some routes or places somewhere between Cusco and Ushuaia.
