I can't decide between these two bikes, the Trek Slash 9 GX AXS T-Type Gen 6, and the Norco Sight A2 MX. Both bikes would cost me 5000 CAD. I'm looking for an all mountain bike for the chunky trails of interior BC. The Norco sight is more along the lines of what I feel I am looking for, but the Trek is pretty heavily discounted, and has a higher component spec for the same price. I took both for quick rides around the block and hit some curbs and stairs and played around and honestly thought both felt really good. I'm here for the high pivot!
The Norco is 160mm/150mm travel, the fox 36 rhythm and fox float x from what I read are fine but still on the more entry side of things. This geo and suspension is what I am leaning towards, I'll pedal pretty much all.my climbs, every once and a while might shuttle or hit the park, but not too often.
The Trek is 170mm/170mm, and in my mind that is way to much to use as my go to pedal up bike. However I was surprised at the pedaling efficiency, the geo is dialed and the anti squat does a good job of making sure the suspension isn't sapping all your energy. It's surprisingly poppy too.
Both bikes weight pretty much the exact same at 38lbs. Hoping someone can give some insight, does anyone use the Trek as their go to pedal up bike?

I’m on the Gen 6 Slash XO build. I moved up from a Ripmo AF that had a coil supported by a Cascade Link and a 170mm fork.
I fucking love the Slash. On logging road climbs, it pedals better than my Ripmo. On descents, it fucking smashes. It’s a dream.
If I recall, the kinematic numbers on the Slash suited me a little more than the Norco. But others love the Norco too.
Only gripe with my Slash is it currently sits at 39lbs. That’s a near full carbon build, coil shock, cush core pro and Maxxis Shorty Exo front and rear.
What’s the point of a bike design such as this ?
Chromag has been working on a High Pivot Hard Tail that looks super promising.

The slash is a magic carpet ride through the gnarliest stuff. I’d imagine the norco isn’t far behind but haven’t ridden it. Rode a slash+ recently and *holy shit dude* that bike rips. I was skeptical, but its damn good.
