  1. figure out your dominant foot and use that to pull up on your strap when your feet are at (9 and 3) or (12 and 6) (dominant foot forward) and push down on the pedal with your other foot, stand up off the seat aswell to take weight off the rear wheel, you dont have to lean all the way to the stem and if you dont feel as comfortable try just riding around out of the saddle and eventually you’ll get therr

Forget about balls to the stem it’s dumb.

Pull up on the strap hard and lift your ass up.

  3. As others noted, pull up with your front foot and mash down as hard as you can with your back foot, while shifting forward a bit to help unweight the back wheel. Learning skid hops first helps. It’ll help build a few kinds of muscle memory that are important.

Also keep in mind that there’s a lot of muscles getting worked to do a skid that you probably haven’t worked before, and it takes some time to build em up. Be patient with yourself. You’ll get it!

pump ur tires up to the max and use bullhorns if you have them. i had the same problem for a while but at least even if you commit as hard as you can, all you will do is slow down and keep rolling. i got my first skids on a rainy day in a slick parking lot. balls to stem works and helps a lot but you will get the movement down the more you try its definitely akward

Since everyone here is telling you about technique: try a 19 tooth rear. Game changer.

Learn to slow down using your legs and then how to whip the rear wheel out. Combine the two and put your weight forward and it’ll happen. Essentially you need to pull up on one pedal and push down on the other. Practice this with slowing down first and it’ll make sense.

You don’t really need to put your balls on the stem lol. You don’t even stop by doing that, you just slide away😂. Just stand a little bit forward and pull up with your dominant foot then push down with your non-dominant foot. 🫡
