There are so many great things about gravel cycling, but my least favorite part of the sport would be farm dogs that are triggered by 45 mm tires and lycra. My most recent encounter involved 4 or 5 dogs from this fine meth house. I have a round of rabies shots in my future.

I hope it works out that you can avoid having to get the shots. If I was going through what you are, there would be no limit to the vengeance I would take.
Yep. Frame dogs on the loose. Bear spray??? Anyone?
I’m terrified of dogs I don’t know, especially if they’re chasing me, like phobia level from a childhood dog attack. I have considered carrying pepper spray, but anyone with any reasonable ideas please let me know. So far, I have been chased by dogs twice and both times was on a flat, so I had the best sprints of my life.

Presuming you are in North America the chances of dog rabies are exceedingly low to the point it is almost none existent. Obviously not something to take at face value off the Internet, follow local medical protocol, but just sharing in case you are anxious about it, it’s a very low risk. Now if you were bit by a bat or something, then we should be concerned.
