  1. Try going up a gear or two.

    You want to get the front up with one hard crank, a 1/2 rotation on the pedals, followed by smooth pedaling to keep it up.

    If you’re in a low gear, it’s impossible to get it up that high in a single crank, so you’re stuck trying to out-pedal gravity.

    P.S. It’s really difficult to get your finger on the brake and find the bite point when you’re already falling over backwards. You should have your index finger on the brake and pulled back to the bite point *before* you even pop the front up. It becomes a habit after a while to just have 3 fingers on the grip and 1 on the lever.
