A century and ski? That’s epic! Love how you strapped the skis on, very clever!

You packed your skis onto your bike and rode over 100km. You have earned the tight to call that whatever you want !

  3. This was actually my first 100km+ ride – I picked up this bike (Cannondale Topstone 4) about 3 weeks ago. In the Rockies it’s peak spring, meaning there is tons of opportunity to mix sports nicely.

I was skeptical about the backpack the whole way but it’s my typical touring bag and I’m used to having it on for long periods – wasn’t so bad!

Inside the backpack: goretex pants, goretex shell, additional socks, avalanche gear (transceiver, probe, shovel), food, headlamp, water filter, lighter, duct tape, extra ski straps, ski poles, camera

Bike frame bag: spare tube, wrench, hex key, bike lock, phone

Skis were mounted using 4 ski straps and socks on the ends to protect the frame from scratching

Moving time was around 8.5 hours, elapsed time was 10.5h. The ski tour itself took about 2 hours with 500m gain.

Things I would do differently: wear bike shorts. I don’t own any yet

If you’re not staying overnight, you’re just gravel cycling. Looks like a good time though!

Naw, you did an epic gravel, multi-sport thing though. Maybe post on backcountry or something. Still rad!

Was it irritating cycling with the skis being lodged up against the top tube of the bike and between your legs?
