I picked up some used Praxis Zayante cranks the other day and somehow didn't catch this wear on the spindle until today. Looks like the result of some botched cable routing. The one on the left is very shallow however the one on the right is a proper groove, maybe 1 or 2mm deep. Just looking for some opinions on still running these. The spindle feels quite thick so I'm not sure if it will be a problem.

Yeah definetily cable rub. If the spindle can be replaced i‘d do it. I‘ve once snapped a bb30 spindle and got so lucky that i did not crash. I was descending just minutes before with about 60mph.

That would make me pretty nervous tbh. Can you replace the spindle on this model of crank?

  3. Either that or some foreign material got inside the BB and got stuck? Were you feeling any pedaling resistance?

  4. Not worth risking it, crank failure can end up pretty bad.
Definitely caused by a cable rub, make sure you sort it out

I’ve seen this exact fail on four different cannondale, and I’d bet that’s what bike this crank used to be on. Definitely don’t ride it, not worth the risk.

  6. Is that possibly from contact with the screw holding the cable guide onto the BB?
