You can get them pretty cheap online. I just searched for quick release skewer spring and a whole bunch of options came up. They’re pretty cheap to buy too

  2. That is a quick release skewer spring that you are missing and I doubt that you will find one by itself for sale.

If you visit your local bike shop they might have a spare somewhere. If you visit your local bicycle collective they may have one as well. Otherwise just buy a new skewer, it will come with two springs. Then put springs on whichever skewer you want to use and keep the other one for later.

  3. we give those to anyone who wants one or more. 5 is pushing it, I’d probably charge you $1.06 if you asked for more than 4 lol

  4. quick release volute spring – they’re cheap. If you just need one, just go to your LBS and they may just give it to you

  5. You can get a 4 or 8 pack of them on Aliexpress for a few dollars. The Uncle Ali ones work just fine as well.

  6. Spring isn’t necessary. They keep the skewer centered to make it easier to install the wheel, but it’s not necessary.

Your local bike shop probably has a pile of used ones, and they would most likely just give you one if you ask nicely.
If you buy the mechanic a nice beverage that would be a nice gesture.

The springs are kinda redundant so I wouldn’t worry about not having one of them
