Not sure the year on this Synaspe. Bought it not too long ago off Facebook(Needs a lot of TLC) & it was in pretty rough shape but she rides like a dream. I actually wasn't riding when this happened. I had just put the bike down(from carrying it), it rolled back about a half foot & the hangar snapped.
Any ideas what caused this? Earlier today I rode 30 miles just fine, with no issues.

Can’t tell if the D has a twist in it. Hangers break for a reason, Chain needs to be checked for any tight ir twisted links. Also check the spokes for damage.
Wheels manufacturering make most hangers, there’s 150+ and counting different ones. Your local bike shop should be able to get the right one for your bike. Prices vary depending on the make and model.
Hanger is designed as a sacrificial part to break when something hits the bike or something goes wrong to prevent damage to the frame or derailleur. It’s done exactly what it’s supposed to do.
Hangers are cheap buy a new one, set the gears up properly before you ride again though.
