i’ve retightened it the way i normally do and will not be surprised if it goes slack again within 5 min of riding i have been able to take out a link yet as i don’t have the right tools or know which pin to take out as my chain doesn’t have an indicator or at least i can’t see it

Most bmx drive trains have a higher tension spot in the rotation, you can find it by lightly back pedaling until u feel resistanse and ur chain gets even tighter, try setting ur chain tension at this spot so you know your not over tightening it, chains stretch over time, your drive train looks newer so I’d say if problems persist try upgrading to a nicer half link. Do this before ur sprocket and driver get worn or you’ll have to replace all at once because these parts wear together and if ur running a very tight chain they will not work with a new chain nicely
There should be a washer with ridges that goes between the dropout and the nut/peg. The ridges should point toward the dropout and bite in to help keep it located.
Kinda looks like your peg is directly next to the frame.
