While perusing the Ordnance Survey map of south Staffordshire, I couldn’t help but notice some cool looking tracks and trails between the cathedral city of Lichfield and the market town of Tamworth. So early on a sunny Sunday morning, I find myself on the bike and ready to explore! But with obstacles such as a military firing range, overgrown towpaths and a new housing estate built over my route, will I make it as far as Tamworth and well-earned rest in it’s magnificent park?

Very enjoyable, and well done for not giving the selfish jogger a push! 😂😂
Hi Dave are you on Strava?
My poor cat got killed on the road last week, and when i seen that lovely friendly cat on here i can't help but thinking it won't last long hanging out around that roadway.
great vid dave you missed out capt smith statue in beacon park it was relocated there as the people of stoke didnt want him tarnishing the reputation of stoke after the titanic sank
What a great way to spend a sunny Sunday. I live not far south of your ride in Nuneaton and use the Coventry and Ashby canal towpaths. You probably know that the Ashby canal connects with the Fazely in Tamworth……I haven't made it that far yet but I'm working on it.
Hi Dave – I know this area well but only using my road bike so it was interesting to see you on some of the off road sections. I've always wondered what was down through the Firing Range at Hopwas woods and I've had similar problems to you down Dunstall Lane. I used this lane before the estate was built and was turned back by workers when it was under construction – I was going to have a look to see it the route had been reinstated – so now I know – just hope that eventually a cycle path will be provided. If you're ever in the area again have a look at the lane which goes through The Canwell Estate and over the ford at Hints – well worth a ride out. Thanks for the videos.
