You have to buy a really strong lock to secure the bike. Don’t leave it outside.

Trek is more expensive than Nukeproof. If you can afford only one bike, get Nukeproof

Thank you, are there any particular locks that you recommended? I could afford either however not both, i was leaning more towards the nukeproof. Thank you

Buy Abus 10mm chain to lock up the bike. I use it often when I have to go to restaurant. The chain is very robust and heavy as sh*t.

  4. Here’s a nice build (4 piston brakes, Shimano 12 speed , fox fork) for cheaper

Then when you get to the USA, buy a cheaper bike for your daily commute. Dont want to destroy those $80 tires on the road

  5. It’s the Nukeproof all day! The Trek is OK but isn’t going to be as fun as the Giga.

Also, I wouldn’t keep this locked outside AT ALL. MTB like this attract professional thieves and if they want a bike outside it will get taken regardless of the lock.

Nukeproof is way better bang for your buck but no one here mentioned it will be way more annoying to service. Nukeproof no longer has US presence as far as I’m aware so spare parts will all have to come from overseas. Trek you can get parts for at almost any bike shop or order online far quicker if needed.

  7. Or, Wait till you get to your destination In Cali and check to see what Demo Days at the local bike shops or parks. They will definitely have other brands and models to try out. Which in turn might be a better setup than what you are currently looking for.

Unless you’re dead set on those 2 brands.? Have you gotten sized up in either of those 2 bike brands yet.?

Just know, any good bike if left outside with any bike chain will never stop any thief. It only slows them down a bit. Utilize some form of am air tag to track the bike also if stolen, it helps.

Modern bikes are pretty similar in quality and both seems to have good components.

Choose the one with the frame you like the most.
