As promised here ´s an update to my first post here:
After dissasembling everything, cleaning and replacing some parts I took the old colnago out for a ride together with a friend. It works great!

The rules for L’Eroica bikes (the vintage bike event) calls for “c) Brake cables must pass outside and over the handlebars (cables can pass inside the frame); “
