As cyclist we must aware in signal light. Pero sad to say may mga driver din na basta nalang liliko or hihinto ng walang sabi2 kaya ung mga nasa likod ang nalalagay sa alanganin.
Ilang years na ako nag stay sa Pilipinas mraming incident na ganyan. Straight line na nga ang daanan nag babanggaan pa. Both are kamote driver and the cyclist. Yung driver dpat nsa right lane na kahit nka signal. Ndi yung nsa midlane ka tpos liliko agad sakopin ang slow lane kahit nka right signal na. Eto nman cyclist alam na palapit na ang gas station ndi lng man nag dahan dahan. 2 kamote na yan muntik na idamay ang inosenteng taxi.
On top of very, very poor awareness and brake discipline, I don't think this guy has a lot of experience riding a bicycle because of the way he took his foot off the pedals.
The situation was already bad because he delayed braking until it was really, really late, but the second he tried to put his foot down, everything went downhill in a heartbeat. His leg not being able to reach the ground threw his balance way off, so he lost all control of his steering and his ability to grip the brake tightly. You can clearly see the effect it had by the way the handlebar jerked around wildly as soon as his foot touched the ground.
The thing is, planting his foot seems to have been intentional since he actually bends his knee out in preparation to do so. It seems like the kind of thing someone with more motorcycle experience might do (to steady their bike when they stop) than an experienced cyclist, most of whom try to stay on the pedals until the very last second to maintain stability and control – and also, to avoid the hassle of having to unclip 😅.
