We can’t have it because crackheads and carbrains will throw garbage into the mechanisms or block them. Our bike lanes here are filled with garbage, broken glass, trash cans, parked cars. It makes me sad.

  2. This keeps coming up once in a while. So the serious answer is that they don’t make them anymore:

    1. Original post here about it 12 years ago: [https://www.reddit.com/r/bicycling/comments/1fkicj/trampe_bicycle_lift_in_trondheim_norway/](https://www.reddit.com/r/bicycling/comments/1fkicj/trampe_bicycle_lift_in_trondheim_norway/)
    2. One of the mods tried to get one installed, and the company said no 4 years ago: [https://www.reddit.com/r/bicycling/comments/pg5c1q/the_end_of_the_cyclocable_system_bicycle/](https://www.reddit.com/r/bicycling/comments/pg5c1q/the_end_of_the_cyclocable_system_bicycle/)
    3. People keep bring it up tho, so clearly there’s interest: [https://www.reddit.com/r/bicycling/comments/v5ehcx/norway_has_worlds_first_bike_escalator/](https://www.reddit.com/r/bicycling/comments/v5ehcx/norway_has_worlds_first_bike_escalator/)

We can’t get decent bike lanes. Forget about ever seeing anything like this.

Wait an automated, powered, system to quickly but almost effortlessly move between two points. Crazy

  5. This would be hugely inefficient in any large city and a maintenance nightmare. Didn’t research, but assuming this was considered a gimmick novelty even in Norway. Modern solution == E-bike.

  6. I have seen this lift in Trondheim. My impression was that it was the only one in the country? Are there others?

  7. US lawsuit culture could never. All it would take it one person falling off of it and suing the city to ruin it for everyone

because 99% of us places populated enough to have bicycle infrastructure arent hilly enough to warrant an expenditure of this magnitude.

Americans are insufferable aren’t they? Imagine being so far up your own arse that you’d just assume everyone on an website used by millions of people *all over the world* is from your country.
