My brakes aren’t giving me the stopping power I want, took the pads off as I thought they would be worn down but they look okay from that point but grimey as hell.
Do they just need a clean or should I replace them?

Still some life left. Give them a clean with some isopropyl alcohol.
I ride pads until they start slight quiecking lol, usually it’s just a tiny part from the metal spring and that hasn’t been a real problem in my past. Next run, new pads, takes like 10 minutes in the parking lot and I’m slow.
Loads of life left, give them a clean with some break cleaner and put them back on
