I got my new bike hot waxed, and this is a top up with Silca Super Secret. It’s a brand new bottle, but despite shaking as hard as I can for a couple minutes it still came out a bit runny. I wanted to do a drop on each roller but the wax water wouldn’t stay on properly, it kept running down the sides, so I ended up squirting it on while backpedaling. Backpedaled a whole bunch more after to let the wax water distribute evenly and also shifted up and down the range of the cassette.
I didn’t wipe off the excess from the chain nor the cassette/chainring, because it’s wax, I figured any excess would naturally flake off.

Yeah, it looks good! Wax is the way to go! You might consider the Silca wax system if you get really into it. Lasts several hundred miles, makes for a silent drivetrain, and extends the life of your chain. It’s excellent. $40 for a bag of Silca wax, and that’ll last years.
A note that wax won’t stick to a chain that isn’t clean. Your chain looks mighty clean, but degreasing is best practice before applying wax.
