Stumpy will be more versatile than epic and it’s cheaper as a bonus

I would go for the cheaper one that also has a dropper post

The Epic is an XC bike, the Stumpjumper is a trail bike. If you’re a serious XC rider, or come from riding road, get the Epic. Otherwise, get the Stumpjumper.

I like red but the black one seems to have better components. Plus dropper.

I’d go stumpy unless you’ve got smooth XC trails.

Do not buy either one. They both have the specialized brain shock that has become basically unserviceable due to lack of parts and support from fox/specialized and they are a proprietary size so you can’t swap them out. I know from experience.

At that price range I would try to look for a hardtail. Your money will go further and you will have a bike with better/newer geometry.

Does either listing include drive side photos? Might get more detailed responses as that would help people determine exactly what we’re looking at here.
