Hello everyone, I don't know what to do. I have a shimano hollowtech 2 fc-mt210 hollow drive on my bike, but the crank bolt broke and sometimes the pedals fall off in the middle of riding. I have a Scott Aspect 940. Will it stop falling out if I get a new crank bolt? Any advice is welcome.

Omg.
That huge bolt is only for compressing everything together. Cranks hold by that 2 smaller bolts.
There are instructions worth reading about how to correctly install the crankset to your bike. They can be found online on Shimano’s site. The piece you’re missing is for applying bearing preload and stopping cranks from rocking side to side. Once it’s been properly preloaded, then you have to tighten the two bolts labeled (3) ALTERNATING SIDES a little bit at a time. Don’t just fully torque one side to spec and then do up the other side. Doing that would leave the crank arms susceptible to falling off. Also you need a torque wrench to ensure you’re hitting 12 – 14 Nm. Get a new crank arm fixing bolt (1), a torque wrench for bolts (3), and put it back together. Or just go to your local bike shop. They can fix you up, too.
Shouldnt there be a plastic “cap”?
You can 3D print a preload bolt if you have 3D printer
