  1. It sounds like the owner doesn’t understand the value of the bike, but the value is low because of how completely different, and better, bikes are now. Different size wheels, component standards, geometry, suspension kinematics, etc… I think it’s worth maybe $300 give or take because of the newer tires and drivetrain. But yeah, I wouldn’t pay anywhere close $800 for that.

I have a bike of a similar age and am having a hard time dealing with how little it’s worth these days.

Bikes are the worst financial investment and the best health investment. Your friend probably spent a lot of money on that Kona when new. And out even more money into it. The reality is that the bike technology, geometry and quality of parts moves really fast. A $3,000 bike in 2022 is now worth less than half that even if it was never ridden once. Your friend’s Kona is severely out of date and has really old dual suspension technology. It may be a pain to keep maintained. It’s cool bike and a great company. But…..it’s honestly garage wall art at this point.

  4. Agree on $300 max. That fork is likely 15 years old and likely needs a rebuild if you can even get parts. Kona’s were not super robust so bearings in the rear suspension probably need service and the shock likely needs service too.

  5. probs 300 maybe 400 on a good day 😆 there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with it it’s just pretty old, i sold my old giant stance 2 2015 for £550 in december and i bought it in 2020 for £600 but i did get really lucky tbf

Funny, I used to have this bike in blue. I miss these days of biking. If this was closer I would probably pay that money. Looks like it’s in good shape. My point is bikes are hard to value, he will probably sell it at that price, and you will end up with something cheaper but how could you pass up an original Dawg Deluxe?!

Damn really $800? I’m selling my Poseidon thats not even a year old with MUCH better components for $1000. That Kona is not worth $800.
