  1. That’s the barb and olive. You cut off the bit of hose with them on and press in new ones when you reinstall the brake hose in the caliper.

  2. You cut off the last cm of hose and slide the compression fitting off the end. You’ll need a new olive and barb when you reconnect the hose, and don’t forget to put the compression but back on first.

    I didn’t have the option of replacing the hose but needed to swap bent handbars asap so I used dremel and ground down the olive and yeeted it off the hose. Then j could get it through the integrated bent handbars and not have to wait a couple days for new hose.

    You CAN but it’s a small pain the arse it’s 100% better and proper if you have length left in hose just to cut it off.
