Hi friends,

I also posted in r/bikewrench but I could use some more advice. I hope it's ok to post this here too.

I have a Canyon Endurace CF 8. The other day I was out riding and at the midpoint I finally made the mistake of not unclipping before I stopped. Anyway, I gave the bike a once-over and rode 9km home without incident.

At home I did a more through look, and I noticed the derailleur hanger had cracked. So I decided to take the derailleur / hanger off to see if there had been damage to the frame. See the attached photos. There's a small area on the drops where the paint was definitely stripped and there seems to be a bit of damage to the frame, but I can't tell how dire it is by looking at it.

For what it's worth, I sent these pictures also to Canyon support and got a helpful but generic "We cannot tell you that there is no risk to riding this frame even with a small impact as this." But they offered to send me a new hanger free-of-charge or send me a new frame for a €800.

It's definitely my fault, it's just a huge bummer that this happened obviously. Given the situation, what would you do? Take the free hanger and ride it, or get a new frame and find a shop to do a frame swap?

Thanks.

Canyon’s endurance bike is called the **Endurace**.

Your submission has been automatically locked. It appears that you may be looking for information about damaged carbon. If this is the case please contact Canyon support directly or a local bike shop to assess the situation. Most damage that looks like a crack is a crack, so you should stop riding the bike immediately. This post will be reviewed by the moderation team.
