  1. Visma used correct tactics. If visma does rolling attacks w its 3 riders then anyone of 3 might win. No, the team wanted (too much) for wva to win, and only him ( b c of his terrible racing record recently, get a win, get confidence b f Flanders)

Wva told all adamantly that he feels great and primed for sprint.

Powless can never beat an in-form wva in a sprint.

It went fine according to plan for wva win—but wva cramps

Anyone can cramp up. It happens. Bad luck wva.

Visma had a reason for its weird actions. It was not stupid. If wva had been winning races recently visma wd never have so acted.

Wva, the unlucky rider of these past 2-3 yrs

Not a hot day? Why cramp today? Wva legs not in shape to take the load.

He needs some hard steady runs (followed by hard steady rides) and less focus on family and kids.

Pogacar and mvp are both tearing up the roads. Neither have kids. Same Remco.

  2. I'm more than happy with the Powless win. He was clearly the fastest among those in the break today. Robbie McEwen said that Powless had a fair shot at winning the sprint about a minute before the sprint occurred, and appeared to say it because he was well aware of Powless' sprinting talent. I think McEwen knows when someone has a good sprint. I don't want to take anything away from Powless. However, I will say that, if this sprint had happened two years ago, I think WVA would have won. Wout's form is better than previous races this year, but it's still off compared to previous years. As most know, when Wout is on form, he can sprint with and beat the best of the best. He just looks off his A-game.

  3. Just complete error from the Visma DS. They needed this win, and they should not have allowed Wout to dictate that they would just ride to the finish for the sprint. They needed to use their numbers and guarantee the win.

  4. Leaving it to a sprint was amateur hour, but the set-up for it was even worse. The fact that Wout didn't force Powless to take third wheel in that group, so he could use the element of surprise and jump when Powless wasn't looking / get a couple free bike lengths (track sprinting 101), or at least use Powless as a draft/lead-out man, is just another layer of poor judgement. Powless had the ideal situation on the back, with every rider in view, so no one could get an early jump, and essentially his own leadout train. Poorly played on so many levels.
