New (to me) bike

Hi all,

New rider here. I’m looking for an entry level bike and I found this one at a local shop. It’s a Cannondale T2. Test rode it earlier today it felt pretty smooth, some dings here and there but overall it seemed like a quality bike.

My commutes about 7.5 miles one way along a river bike path. I guess my question is, is this bike worth $500? From my quick search it looks like it’s about 13 years old but if it rides well then I don’t really care and can’t really afford to anyways. Overall thoughts on the bike?

I’d like to buy through some classifieds site but I’ve been burned before so at least with a brick and mortar I think there’s a higher level of honesty.
