I had an outpost that I converted to drop bars. It was heavy as a tank. Only the down tube was butted. Thr rest was straight guage steel. It beat me up like an 80s cannondale just riding it. Yes steel can ride like crap if built this way.

  2. That doesn’t even look like a size large frame. Based on the front stem I’m gonna guess it’s 21”.

Dude will have to learn the lesson everyone with a hobby learns: you typically lose money on something you dump money into.

I have those Alex rims on my bike though and they’re nice. Was it worth the $400 conversion to 1x? Nooooope. But I still like it.

His cost is more than $700? What did he pay for the bike before adding the new parts? Like $500?

  4. I’m glad he listed what grips it’s got! That’s makes a big difference in the price!

  5. This is an ugly bike. I can’t imagine that cost equates to this. Not my thing.

  6. 5’10”? That’s crazy talk. The head tube is only a foot long. If I were teaching my toddler to ride I’d buy this immediately. Fortunately, abortion used to be legal and I can focus on me me me.

  7. Hi all, I bought this 1991 GT bike, mint all original, apart from the seat for £80.
