Drivers need to know this: Bike Boxes aren’t for them! They already have the ENTIRE ROAD and most of the public space to operate their vehicles in.
A bike box is a designated area at the head of a traffic lane at signalized intersections that provides bicyclists with a safe and visible way to get ahead of queuing traffic during the red signal phase.
There. If you can’t figure that out, then turn in your license and never drive again.
Maybe licenses should be renewed every few years, eh?
Like these didn’t exist a few years ago in North America so why SHOULDN’T we have driver’s license tests every few years to keep up with the changing state of roadways that drivers are forced to navigate every day they leave their home?

Lol there's like a total of 5 active cyclist in London get lost Ben we've wasted millions of tax payers money for infrastructure that get's used by 0.02% of the population and I've seen cyclist cause more accident's than they think they've caused and simply rode away from because they weren't apart of the collision just caused the accident.
and no. now that theres bike lanes and infra for cyclist FM96 did a podcast on king and queen to show that even after the bike lanes were built maybe 5 people a day that actually look like they are working or going to school using them
I ride my bike regularly in London and have realized more bike riders are making major mistakes than car drivers so like I've always said bike riders should shape up first before they start pointing the finger at car drivers.

We just have bad laws around combining cars and bikes. It should be intuitive, easy, and safe. You shouldn't have to google "what does the green box mean". I would pull up to that and have no idea.
In my home town – turns how we had a bike path a long a major rd for years. Was not intuitive at all. Everyone thought it was parking / breakdown lane. Businesses and apt renters used it as parking. Its bad design if no one knows what is happening. It came out that our "break down lane" was actually a bike path when locals began asking for a bike path.
Remember towns will get paid by the federal goc to throw some paint down and call it a "bike path." It doesnt need to be quality or wise urban planning. And the local town gets to keep the extra cash even if they dont spend it all. Basically there and incentivized to do the minimum.
Get mad at the federal government for giving away our taxes to stupid projects. And be mad at your local government for not installing something truly helpful to locals. This is a government poor planning problem. Not a normal person on the rd problem.
Can I just say bicycles don't belong on the road if there's a footpath around you. Drive the damn cycle on the footpath and not on the road. The amount of backed up traffic cyclist cause is crazy

Interesting, all the bike boxes I’ve seen around me (Minneapolis particularly the U of M) are for cyclists to easily turn left without having to do the vehicular cycling thing of crossing every single lane, though I haven’t biked everywhere so they could exist like this here too.

Speaking of safe, reflective tape white on the front forks, red on the rear forks required by law, your's seems to be missing at least on the left side you showed
Laws that are not enforced are useless.
I'm not opposed to bikes on roads, but there are places in the world where bikes are widely used and have infrastructure for them and Canada, especially London is not one of them. Not to mention, sidewalks are empty 99% times. Get off the damn road if you're only going 1/4 the speed of everyone else
Oh they definitely know they have laws to follow too. They just don't care and think they're above it. Only filthy cyclists should follow them, eventhough they already commit less traffic violations than motorists, and don't endanger anyone in the vast majority of the ones they commit.

Can’t blame drivers when the city puts in 0 thought behind their bike lanes. London is by far one of the worst offenders for poor city planning thus having some of the worst drivers I’ve ever experienced.

Why does a bicycle need to get ahead of traffic when everyone is just going to need to pass them later any way, and I know that's an Ontario plate, half the roads in this province aren't wide enough for two vehicles to be on and still give the cyclists one meter, then there's the cyclists who just ride in a big group and take up half the road, but they're a topic for later I suppose.

Legit question, why are we putting the bikes back in front of all the cars that likely just passed them? Isn’t that just another recipe for disaster making everyone pass them again? Let alone the frustrated drivers like these guy….
I know ignorance of the law is no excuse… But it really doesn’t help when these new bike rules didn’t exist when most people got their license.
Also… Looking at where they’ve decided to put that bike box as a transport truck driver… It seems they’ve put your bike box in the necessary turning zone for trucks turning right. I certainly wouldn’t want to be there on a bicycle.
… other thing that irks me just a little bit is even when you say it allows the bike to get ahead of queueing line of cars… My mind instantly goes to why should you be able to skip past the queue line?

We dodnt see them squuze past you. Cant approuch 30 seconds later and assume they took your spot. You can stop here with no bike so if you come up afterwards doesnt mean someone has to give it to yoy.
