In this case its a Fulcrum 2-way fit ready so I suppose it should be good for tubeless. But how do I know otherwise? Also, another question for the tubeless setup. After installing the tubeless valve and the tire and inflating it, air still leaked out through the valve (no sealant inside yet). Should a correctly installed tubeless tape + valve already seal good enough even when theres no sealant inside yet or is it perfectly normal that air is flowing out (so that you can easily hear it). This may Seem Like a stupid question but my last tire also sealed it up pretty well even before adding the sealant.
Thanks!

  1. These wheels are tubeless ready. 2-way fit gives you an option to use tubes or go tubeless. The purpose of a sealant is to… seal 🙂 So setting up tubeless without a sealant will not work in a long term (neither it will work in a short term).

Yes tubless tape is plastic and glued to the rim and rim band for tubes is allso plastic but its not glued and is usualy thiccer

That is tubeless tape, a new setup should hold air without sealant in. There may be an issue with your valve not seating correctly if air is leaking out.

It should seal and hold air pretty well. A few tips I was given by a LBS. Clean the rim really well with isopropyl alcohol, install a tube under the tire first and inflate to max pressure for ~5 minutes to press the tape into the rim, when installing a tubeless valve press on the back of the valve with a blunt object so you can really tighten the retention nut down. This last one was the most helpful for me hope it works for you too.

  5. Since there is no generally universal standard for tubeless rims and tires on bikes (there were attempts but they were not widely adopted) and because having sealant that will seal punctures is one of the chief benefits of tubeless anyway, there is a good chance that a given combo of tire and rim will not seal fully without sealant to finish the job.

Tube only rim tape is a narrow fabric tape that is intended to cover the spoke nipples to prevent the tube from being punctured.

Tubeless tape is thin plastic tape that goes up and over the bead seat to seal against the tire. You have tubeless tape.
