This is the original headset on my 1995 hardrock. I replaces the cages by brand new ones but it still doesn’t feel smooth.
Am i doing something wrong? I checked orientation of cages seems to be correct but i might be wrong 🤨

Looks like it’s pretty tight. Also, the cages could be oriented wrong, have done that many times
Seems you overtightened the headset. Did you ceck the bearing cups for damage?
Moooooore grease !!!!!
Too tight, or the cups in which the bearings sit are also worn out, in which case the entire headset needs replacing.
Looks like it’s overtightened. Be generous with the grease, you can always wipe off the excess.
