The eagle eyed presenters have discovered some fantastic bits of lightweight technology on some bikes at the Tour de France, including:
– Trek Emonda Team Issue frameset, 635g!
– Look have a new lightweight climbing frame, weighing just 730g and some sections of the frame are just 0.6mm thick!
– Lasty discovered a carbon fibre chainring on Serge Pauwels Cervelo R5 bike.
– A new Argon 18 Gallium Pro as used by Fabio Aru in a custom colourway
– Chris Froome’s Pinarello F10 has a Shimano Di2 climbing shifter without the casing, making it even lighter, a custom yellow mount for his GPS and finally a carbon fibre number holder
– Adam Hansen is back with his crazy light shoes. 160g a pair, which is about half the weight of a pair of stock shoes.

  1. @DanielLloyd please never wear that color shirt again. You look like a flattened pop-tart banana peel. Cheers and thanks for the beer back at the 2016 Giro in Vicenza 🍺 @globalcyclingnetwork

  2. Again…the fact that they have to add weight to a bicycle to make it UCI legal is proof the UCI is an ancient, out of touch organization of useless bureaucrats.

  3. I love how accustomed Dan looks in the start of this video while it's raining. Even with the lightest drizzle I'm considering riding indoors. I need some proper #5 htfu.

  4. I love how Adam Hansen looks to save weight from places other than the bike. He thinks very differently and is very clever in his designs.

  5. why not add weight to the bike in the form of a more comfy saddle, or at least one with steel rails, or a dropper post or disc brakes? If it were my bike and I had to make it heavier I would load it with as much useful stuff as possible instead of lead weights.

  6. Liking the inclusion of the LOOK Huez, in this lineup and back in the TDF. Classic brand, would really like to see a GCN bikes of the Tour show on this bike.

  7. Does Adam Hansen use a protective kevlar layer (or dyneema for added extravagance) on the skin side of the shoes? I shudder at the thought of crashing, damaging the shoes to the point of extremely painful carbon splinters.

  8. 0.6mm is still thicker than some steel tubes BITD, also, a bog standard Scott Cr1 Sl in a 61cm weighs only 918g with a 328g fork, hardly much difference. If they are struggling to meet UCi limit why not use a nice comfy brooks saddle.

  9. Where has the bike industry gone!!!!!! What was wrong with these beautiful lightweight bikes? Disc brakes ruined these bikes and made them tanks!
