Was looking for a cheaper bike to throw on the Zwift trainer during the summer, that’s led me down the rabbit hole of considering options that are actually road worthy if I spent a little more.
I realize these options are very different in style, but the theme seems to be get an older (2010s) bike that’s higher-end and equipped with a 105 or sometimes Ultegra, or get a newer Allez equipped with a Claris or at best a Sora. Are the older carbon bikes worth the risk to get the higher end groupset?
For contact, this won’t be my workhorse bike and I’m fine without the newest and the best, but living in the northeast I’d like something that can climb and would be safe enough to bomb hills.
