Cyclocross bikes are a great way to start. This is a hand-built made in USA frame (I believe) hung with older but decent parts that should hold up. The brakes are kind of special too – work very well. Not sure about the Mavic/Velocity wheel mix as Mavic is primarily a rim maker and sold complete wheels… IDK exactly what’s going on there. The knobby tires might be a pain for longer road rides but I’d say leave em on, wear em out, replace with something you like better later.
Only drawback is no disc compatibility so ultimately major upgrades will be out of touch – harder to find good rim brake wheelsets now for example. But overall as long as this bike fits you it’ll be a fine machine and reliable friend.
