I've been struggling deciding between two upgrades.
Convert to drop bars or clipless pedals.

I have a 2021 Jamis Renegade, 51 cm, 40T Praxis crank and 11-42 GRX cassette. I converted to a flat bar, increase the stack height and put an angled redshift stem on at the time of purchase mostly due to shoulder and neck issues. I also put flat pedals on because I've never ridden with couples pedals.

Here are my pros and cons between the two upgrades I'm deciding between

Drop Bars
PROS.
* Different hand positions to change to reduce neck and shoulder pain while riding,
* bar tape is more comfortable than flat bar grips

CONS.
* I've never ridden a drop bar bike consistently beyond a few test rides so there will be an adjustment period,
* I'm not sure if the drop bars will work with the angled redshift stem that I already own.
* I do not really want to ride in a too aggressive position. I feel like drop bars may make me feel too unstable going down rough hills.
* cost of LBS to install drop bars

Clipless
PROS.
* These will give me more consistent power.
* Improved foot comfort over long distance.
* I can install pedals myself

Will they improve stability going down hill? My feet pop off the pedals consistently even when standing when going down hill. My flat pedals are pretty grippy.

CONS.
* I've never ridden couples before and I'm nervous especially after a couple of rough falls last year.
* I've learned to reply on putting my feet out if needed when riding single track. I suppose unclipping accomplishes this but I don't have any confidence in riding clipless.
* I have paddle-like hobbit feet and if has been hard trying shoes on. Even regular athletic shoes in wide sizing is difficult. My foot measures at 250mm long x 110mm wide. Lake doesn't sell shoes in my area unfortunately.

Thanks for your help
