  1. I am a big fan of tons of sweep on bars. I run Jones H-bars on my city bike (45* sweep!) and custom Moonmen bars (24* sweep) on my MTB. The Moonmen bars are spendy, but pretty awesome since you can also customize them with a ton of rise, which is nice for a 6’4″ Clyde like myself.

I’ve a form of rheumatism that affects my wrists mostly and makes holding modern wide bars very uncomfortable. My wrists literally can not bend enough to allow my palms to rest correctly on a low angle bar.

I switched to an SQ Labs 30x Bar with a 12 degree back sweep and 30mm rise. It definitely made a difference for me but thinking I’ll eventually switch to the 16 degree sweep version they do to increase my comfort further.

You can also get them with a 45mm rise.

    I’m jealous of these trails!!

Alt bars or flared drop bars might be a good move. I find that the hand positions are better for my wrists. Flat bars are like a barbell and drop bars feel more like dumbbells, that’s the best way I can describe it.

The ProTaper 20/20 was on sale not too long ago. I haven’t ridden it on trail yet but before that I had a Salsa Bend 17-degree back sweep and it was comfortable but just too narrow (710mm).

Yes go for a 12 degree back sweep. Even more if you want and you’re not riding anything technical. SQlab has tons of good options in that category.
