So I've been 'cycling' for a year. Picked up a Trek Domane in June and I've now ridden about 600 miles. I use a $55 Specialized Align II helmet because it's highly rated, was easy to locate to try-on locally and also MIPS certified. One of the things I have recently discovered, while riding in cold winter is when sun goes down I have any place to put my sunglasses. I've seen other cyclist store their sunglasses in their helmet, but it doesn't work with my $55 helmet. Tried putting them in my jersey pockets, I forgot they were there, took off my jersey.. and they fell out. Now my sunglasses are scratched up.
1) What exactly do you call this sunglass storage/holder thing on the more expensive helmets?
2) How do you tell which helmets can do this.. and which cannot?
3) What's a reasonably priced, highly rated helmet with the proper safety certifications that can hold a pair of sunglasses?
So far best I've come up with is the Kask Protone Icon in an ugly matte green color for sale on Bikecloset.com for $179. If it was the matte gray color.. I would have pulled the trigger. I just can't do the army green thing.

Kask Mojito. Around 100 bucks, cool design and holds glasses. Premium feel with a leather chin strap and a cage on the back side that you can slide down to fit a pony tail if you have long hair
Sweet protection falconer 2vi can be found fairly cheap sometimes and holds glasses better than any helmet I’ve used.
My glasses never come off, eye protection is important. I wear photochromatic lenses, so they go clear when it’s too dark.
That being said I was just looking at the POC Omni air, I see them popping up for around $100 on sale. I’m also intrigued by the lumos ultra fly pro which is on sale now, but it has not yet been rated by Virginia Tech so I will hold off.
My sunglasses fit just fine in my helmet but I don’t trust it. If I have to remove them mid-ride I tuck them into the collar of my mesh base layer.
I have the Van Rysel FCR helmet, it’s a € 100 and works well. Another bonus is that it’s one of the most aerodynamic road helmets on the market.
