Worked at a shop when these were originally on sale! These bikes were an incredible value when new. Raleigh was notorious for excellent parts on an unremarkable frame… the original “good enough for who it’s for!” brand philosophy!

Your comment about the baby seats on the back rack brings up a question that has always bothered me with regard to your other videos about long distance rides: I see lots of people in your ride videos who have these "rooster tail" seat packs sticking out up behind them, rather than using panniers hanging low off a rear bike rack. Wouldn't those seat bags have the same pendulum effect when riding compared to keeping the bags lower? Why do people choose those instead of panniers?
I'm not sure this a proper dad bike without a dork disc. Just sayin'.

Had both gront snd rear hubs overhsuled by my local bike shop. They did a super job and the price was reasonable. I may get them to do some more.
