I’m (52M) looking for my first bmx bike (unless you count the one I had as a kid) this is for sale near me. It’s a 24” Tony Hawk Park Series by Dynacraft. Is it worth checking out/buying? I have no idea what to even look for in a bmx. I currently have a gravel bike and want something different.

Bmx bikes are only considered that if they’re 20”, that my friend is considered a wheelie bike.
I think the quality is going to be really low with this. Look for something like a kink drifter if you want an oversized bmx. Notice the stem on this is a quil style not a threadless clamp style.
It’s a Tony Hawk 720 Bike by Dynacraft, a 24″ wheeled cruiser. It’s considered to be a entry level bike, rated up to 275 lbs. It’s an early model and hasn’t been available for a few years, as Dyna has been making more modern versions.
This one is on EBay for $185.00 or best offer. All of the reviews I’ve read say that it’s a pretty decent bmx cruiser that was built heavy enough for skate part and street park riding and tricks. I’d say it’s probably worth $110 in decent condition. I’d see if I could negotiate it down a few bucks, but it’s hard to beat $110 for a solid rider.

This is not a great first option. There are plenty of great deals on new bikes now from several of the core BMX shops/mailorders.
hard pass. this is a wal mart bike dont let the tony hawk name fool you.
i am 40 and have had a 20″ bmx (or 5)in my possesion since i was around 5, dont ride as often as i once did but still often enough. i also commute to work by bike 4 days a week (fairdale weekender) but it i were in my 50s and hadnt ridden in 35years or so i would probably strongly consider the fairdale taj. its essentially an adult sized bmx bike but not a wheelie bike. it has 27.5″ wheels but still handles a lot like a 20″. there are older versions aswell with 26″ wheels. new they are under $600 but a used one could be priced close to this and even if its a little worn in it’s still a zillion times better.
