Hey everyone,
After some consideration I finally decided to buy my first road bike and found this Specialized Allez on a second hand platform. It was originally posted for €550 but the seller is willing to accept €425.
From what I can see, the bike looks well-maintained and in good condition, but since it's an older model and I'm a total newbie I wanted to get your advice to not get into a bad deal. Do you think it's a fair price?
Any advice would be much appreciated! 🚴♂️
Thanks!
This is the ad description (translated):
This Specialized Allez e5 with frame size 56 is suitable for riders with a body length of 174 to 189 cm.
The bike has always been well maintained by the European champion sports bike mechanic and myself.
The shifters and brakes are finished with Shimano 105.
Saddle, handlebar tape, tires and brake pads have been replaced very recently.
Gears and brakes are very well adjusted.
Cables are neatly taped.
2×10 speed.
This racing bike has brought me many beautiful rides without any problems.
In short, a very well maintained racing bike, ready to make many more beautiful rides.

Rim brakes are extremely dangerous, I would avoid them
275 at most.
It’s a fantastic bike in excellent condition. That being said, I’ve bought one last year with a lower spec for 200£.
It looks immaculate. New saddle, tires, bar tape, and brake pads would set you back 200. It’s red. It’s an Allez. If any of those things matter to you then I think this is a reasonable but not amazing price. There are certainly cheaper, worse condition 12 year old road bikes to be had. So I think I’d rather have this one then a beat up bike.
Hi, I own this exact make and model, which makes this an 2013 Allez so this bad boy is more than 10 years old. While I do think it is a nice bike, it’s really not worth much anymore. Back then I bought it for 1700€ as a decent lower-mid range bike with the 105 groupset, but now I would maybe pay 300€ in good condition. You can pay more if you don’t mind it but I wouldn’t call it a steal.
Additionally, while I still prefer mechanical shifting and the 105/GRX range is good quality, don’t expect the shifting to be nearly as crisp on a decade old groupset.
