  1. I’ve had a pleco for about 5-6 months, he has barely grown, is there something I am doing wrong, he is also in a 20G tank with 4 comet goldfish, I am thinking of getting a bigger tank. Please lmk if I can do something to help him grow. He is still like 1.5 inches long

  2. Buy an otocinclus or a panda garra for the small tanks. There are hundreds of different subspecies of plecos. Some only get 4 inches in length. Those bladder snails in your hand are just as invasive, maybe more so.

  3. Biggest invasive problem is the zebra mussels and the cloud of sludge they produce at the bottom of the river river was way more clear and fish able before they got into our rivers

  4. Despite if you have pleco or not, if you ever can't afford a bigger tank, just go to local, not chain petstores and ask them if they can call you or give you number out to anyone looking to donate a bigger tank or sell cheap. Sometimes the shop will give you a used one

  5. yeahh i got one a year ago and he's like 5 inches long now haha i plan on giving him away (to a good home) once he outgrows his current tank because i can't afford a bigger tank–i will miss him!!!!

  6. We loved our Pleco. He got huge so we just kept buying a bigger aquarium because our pets are family. He was about 18" long when he passed away. We had him for 8 years and he was about 6 inches long when we got him. He lived with a big Oscar and they grew together and got quite large. They are vegetarian though so they are not eating wildlife. But they do not have many predators. They will die in water under 45 degrees though so dumping them in the river, they will probably not survive the winter temps.

  7. dont throw this fish into river this pleco fish will destroy river eco system because people keep relesed them in river they not only eat alge and other fish waste they also eating other fish eggs in my country already had serious problem with pelco invasions we also call them garbage fish they fast breeder last time we already catching hundred ton of them filled in our local river and kill it also some people trying to find way to eat it and removed tocsin in their system there still multi trillion of them in our river our local fish almost gone instinction just one throw of net its will full of them like leaf stuck on river bottom

  8. This video refers to the common pleco, which can grow up to 2 feet long. There are other plecos that are more suitable for smaller tanks, like the bristlenosed and rubber-lipped plecos, which grow only to 4 inches.

  9. I bought a pleco for my 15 gallon fish tank and I went on vacation then when I came back pleco was just a skull and I found out that my gourami and goldfish ate him 💀

  10. I purchased my fish that’s supposed to clean algae and the tank is horribly dirty and we tried getting a different one that actually would’ve helped and they told us he would get too big by now. He’s up to 5 inches.

  11. Plecos arent even that good at cleaning a tank.
If you want the ornaments and plants constantly re-arranged and dug up, then this is the fish for you
